In this quote, my dad is saying that he has always been honest and he has always worked hard. In the world today, honesty and hard work are not things that are praised. In fact, they are often considered to be vices. My dad was raised to believe that lying, cheating and stealing were wrong and would eventually catch up with you.

It’s a lesson he learned from his parents who were raised in a time where lying, cheating and stealing were commonplace even though they were deemed to be wrong. My dad has worked hard his whole life and he has never once been caught lying or cheating. He likes to think of himself as an honest person because he has never once lied to me about anything.

He feels good about himself because he has always done the right thing.
